Mary Katrantzou’s range with denim brand Current/Elliot is now available to purchase online. The collaboration is the first time the designer has experimented with denim; according to Because Magazine, Katrantzou stated “In out last show, one critic mentioned denim and what it could look like with my prints and we thought it could be a great challenge to work with denim for the first time”. Katrantzou’s signature prints have been translated onto the denim to create a range of casual wear, with visas and passports prints featuring on the designs instead of notes and stamps, which featured in the S/S 13 RTW collection. In my personal opinion, the designers have nailed it. The mix of print and denim could have appeared tacky and distasteful, but the fabric complements the print designs and each item of clothing is fun and perfect for Spring/Summer. Whether it’s a pair of skinny jeans or a crop top, denim is a crucial part to everyone’s wardrobe, and therefore the collaboration is en route to becoming a huge success. The 23 piece collection ranges from £225 – £510 and can be purchased from Matches, Net-a-Porter and My-Wardrobe.com.
